Why is a backing needed?
During the process of creating artificial turf, yarns are tufted into a tuft cloth. The artificial grass fibres are then secured in an underlayer, also known as backing. This backing serves two key purposes: ensuring the dimensional stability of the grass system and aiding in anchoring the synthetic grass fibres.
Why are recycled grass backings so difficult to bond?
The majority or recycled artificial grass backings are made from a number of of different variations of the Polyolefin chemical family. Although excellent for recyclability purposes, these materials are widely renowned as some of the most challenging to adhere to.
What type of adhesive is best for bonding recycled artificial grass?
As you might have already found out, conventional artificial grass adhesives just won't cut it. Whether it's a single component MS Polymer tube or a two-component Polyurethane system, the bond just isn't good enough. In most cases, the adhesive won't bond at all.
